Sonya Michelle Williams was one of nine young lives lost in the 1991 City College tragedy in Harlem. Her family founded this foundation in her memory. Today it hosts community events and ceremonies, raises funds for New York families and causes, and supports mental, spiritual, and physical health and wellness — led by Sonya's brother, Sensei Sonny Williams Jr.

The City College Nine
On December 28, 1991, nine beautiful young lives were lost in a crowd crush at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in Harlem. Sonya was one of them. Every December, their families still return to Harlem to gather, grieve, and remember.
